What does a result establish?

Valid means VIES returned a positive result. Invalid means it returned a negative result. Inconclusive does not mean invalid. The result is not a full company-register extract, identity check or tax advice. Provider details may be absent even for a valid number.

Company details appear only when VIES supplies them. If the government service is unavailable, the result is unknown and no check is deducted. It must not be interpreted as an invalid number.
